What is an MCS Umbrella Scheme?

An MCS Umbrella scheme allows you as an installer to carry out heat pump installations and access grants for your homeowners without the need to be MCS certified yourself.

Do I have to be F-Gas certified to fit an Air Source Heat Pump?

Monobloc style air source heat pumps contain a hermetically sealed refrigeration circuit and do not require F-Gas certification to install.

Should I be Gas Safe registered to install an air source heat pump?

You do not need to be Gas Safe registered to install air source heat pumps, however you will need to be certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, or MCS. Holding an MCS certification demonstrates that you work to the highest quality standards and will also allow your customers to claim specific grants to help with the cost of having an ASHP installed.
