The Government has set a target of 600,000 installations per year by 2028. To support this, grants such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) have been implemented. This is a £7,500 grant which aims to reduce the cost of a heat pump installation for eligible property owners.
MCS contractors are responsible for applying for and redeeming the BUS grant through Ofgem and with support in this form set to end in 2028, Baxi's MCS Umbrella scheme means there are plenty of opportunities for you to take advantage of.

We complete a quick, free estimation, followed by a visit to site to carry out a room by room heat loss calculation, taking care of the design and providing a tailored installation pack. Meanwhile, you have full control of your pricing and once the system is installed, Baxi will then complete a second site visit to commission in readiness for handover.
Throughout these key stages, our team will progress with all of the necessary paperwork to ensure full compliance. Ultimately, we aim to remove the complexities associated with heat pump installations, allowing you to focus on what you're good at.

Air source heat pumps can be maintained either by you as the installer or by the maintenance plans that we offer here at Baxi after the installation is completed. This can be discussed at enquiry stage.

You do not need to be Gas Safe registered to install air source heat pumps, however you will need to consider that in almost all cases boilers will be removed in place of the heat pump which will require Gas Safe certification.
If you wish to access grants you would need to be certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). By utilsing the Baxi Umbrella MCS Scheme, you can focus on growing your business and installing whilst we look after the admin and compliance.
Monobloc style air source heat pumps contain a hermetically sealed refrigeration circuit and do not require F-Gas certification to install. Split style air source heat pumps share or split the refrigerant circuit between the indoor and outdoor units, the pipework between these units must be connected by an F-Gas certified engineer.
To install and service a monobloc and split air source heat pump, you will need to have a strong knowledge of plumbing and heating. It is advisable to hold the industry approved NVQ Level 3 in air source heat pump installation.
From a maintenance perspective, a competent person could replace sensors, PCBs, hydraulic products, casings and the fan. You would need F-Gas certification to work on the refrigerant components.
