Should I turn off my air source heat pump in the summer?

You will need to keep your heat pump active throughout the summer months in order for it to work in the most efficient way and heat your water for showers and household tasks. Some heat pumps also have a cooling function, which may be beneficial during the hotter months, so long as the system has been designed for it.

How much does it cost to service an air source heat pump?

The price of an air source heat pump service starts at £200, with servicing plans available to help manage the cost.

Do air source heat pumps need servicing?

Your heat pump should be serviced at least annually to keep warranties valid and to ensure it is in the best possible working condition.

Are air source heat pumps safe?

Heat pumps are designed to be safe, with features such as pressure relief valves and sensors to prevent excessive pressure. Your installer will also work to specific industry regulatory standards and quality assurance measures.

Are there grants available for air source heat pumps?

Grants such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme can help with the cost of having an air source heat pump installed. An uplift for rural and off-grid properties is also available, depending on eligibility.

Understanding hot water cylinder sizes and dimensions

Hot water cylinders have different capacities and dimensions, depending on the volume of water each can hold. The type of cylinder is also a significant factor in understanding which is the right one for your needs.

Does an air source heat pump freeze in the winter?

Air source heat pumps have an automatic defrost cycle that uses warmth from within your home to melt away frost and ice on the outside unit during cold weather. The process only takes a few minutes and you will likely not even notice.

Air source heat pump costs

The total cost of having an air source heat pump can vary. Grants are available to help mitigate some of the costs, such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
