Are there grants available for air source heat pumps?
Different areas may offer different grants to help you with the cost of installing an air source heat pump.
England and Wales
The government Boiler Upgrade Scheme was launched in May 2022. It will provide a boiler upgrade grant to help owners of domestic and small non-domestic properties in England or Wales with the upfront cost of installing low carbon heating systems, such as heat pumps. It is scheduled to run until 2030 with additional funding announced through the Warm Homes Plan. Current grant funding, subject to eligibility and any change is £7500. There is also a temporary rural uplift effective from 21st July 2026 until March 2027, of £1500 that applies to properties replacing existing LPG or oil heating.

Scotland
Home Energy Scotland provides grants and loans on behalf of the Scottish Government. These are available to owner occupiers who live in their properties and to self-builders for both energy efficiency measures and renewables measures. These are dependent upon the improvement being made and for air source heat pumps, subject to eligibility and for any change, current funding attracts a value of £7500 grant and £7500 loan. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) provides information on grants for installing air source heat pumps, up to €6,500.
