Baxi’s Latest Seven Apprentices Qualify as Field Service Engineers

Baxi has further bolstered its market leading, award-winning service division as seven of its apprentices qualified as fully trained Field Service Engineers this month.

After passing their final exams, the latest cohort will now join Baxi’s team of over 200 engineers supporting customers across the country with servicing and maintenance needs.

Working alongside the network of independent heating installers and contractors in the UK, the new Field Service Engineers will be representing Baxi to provide its renowned service, maintenance and repairs.

Training apprentices across its business, from engineers out on the road in customers’ homes to those working across head office and manufacturing roles, is an important part of Baxi’s commitment to addressing the skills gap.

Alongside gaining their Gas Engineering Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard at college, the apprenticeship has provided the newly qualified engineers with invaluable practical experience by working alongside seasoned heating engineers in real-world settings. This on-the-job training has equipped the cohort skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field and provide advice and expertise on delivering efficient heating in homes.

To further support the industry with developing skills for the future of heating, Baxi has also invested heavily in its training capability. Following last year's unveiling of the new 10,000 sq ft Solutions Academy at its Warwick headquarters, Baxi has a nationwide team of 10 expert trainers, operating out of Baxi-owned facilities and 13 satellite centers based in third party education facilities. This is expected to increase capacity to physically train 10,000 installers a year by the end of 2025, with an additional 5,000 installers benefiting annually through Baxi’s e-learning platform.

Naomi Leugs, Early Careers Partner at Baxi, said: “We are proud to have trained yet more skilled engineers to join our Field Service Team and represent the Baxi brand across the country. Our award-winning service division is an important part of the heating industry ecosystem, providing installers, homeowners and building owners with high-quality servicing, repairs and maintenance. We have a role as a leader in the industry to provide the training and skills required to deliver sustainable, efficient heating into the future. Our apprenticeship schemes alongside the leading training offering are important ways in which we will address the skills gap and provide the next generation of engineers with the skills they need to deliver success.”
