Can an air source heat pump provide cooling?
Some air source heat pumps can provide cooling. The system will need to be correctly designed and configured to meet this requirement.
In cooling mode, the heat pump reverses the refrigerant cycle, removing the heat from inside the home and transferring it outdoors. Cooling is typically delivered through underfloor heating, fan coils units or other compatible emitters designed for cooling.
Not all systems are suitable for cooling, so it is important that your installer ensures that the heat pump, controls and heat emitters are designed to work for both heating and cooling. Upon commissioning the installer may need to set certain parameters to ensure optimum performance.
