What does a boiler warranty cover?

What your warranty covers varies depending on the type, length, and the make of the boiler. As a general overview, though, warranties at Baxi cover parts and labour costs, any integrated controls of the boiler, and cover should the boiler break down due to a manufacturing fault.

It’s important to note that the boiler warranty does not cover damage or breakdowns caused by a lack of maintenance or a buildup of sludge in the system, or the wider system or leaking pipework.

Why a service is needed for a warranty

A boiler service is an essential requirement for keeping warranties valid. Having a service once a year is also imperative for maximising the performance and efficiency of your boiler, preventing it from breaking down when you really need it.

How much does a warranty cost?

The cost of your warranty will depend on a number of different factors, taking into account the length of the cover that’s needed, the type of the boiler, and whether there are any additional upgrades that are needed to your system.

What do I need to do so my warranty is valid?

The first step is to register your warranty within 30 days of your boiler being installed. Your installer will also need to complete the Benchmark Checklist, which you can learn more about here. From there, you’ll need to make sure your boiler is serviced at least once a year by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Make sure you keep all documentation and records of when your boiler is serviced.

If you decide to move home, the warranty will stay with the boiler. However, the new owner will need to ensure the boiler is serviced annually in order for it to remain valid. Similarly, if you move into a new home and the boiler has a warranty in place, you’ll need to make sure that you stay up to date with having a service each year.
