New Baxi research report: Social Housing and the Changing UK Heat Network Landscape
Heat networks are expected to fulfil 20% of all UK heat demand by 2050, currently providing ~3%. Social housing providers and local authorities will be central to that growth, but are navigating it alongside net zero and constrained capital budgets.
As an active solutions provider in this space, Baxi is keen to understand how these sectors are engaging with heat network policy, regulation and funding.
We surveyed 100 housing associations and 102 local authorities and councils responsible for managing or operating heat networks surveyed, alongside conducting in-depth interviews with five housing associations, a heat network consultant and heat network contractor.
Our research finds social housing providers and local authorities have good experience of heat networks, but regulatory uncertainty and stretched capacity are slowing delivery.
