Baxi Air Source Heat Pump solution provides reliable, sustainable hot water at Pembrey Country Park

The requirements

In compliance with Building Regulations Wales for new build developments, the hot water solution serving the facility needed to be net zero carbon in operation while also complying with CIBSE Commissioning codes and layout.

The solution needed to meet the high demand for reliable hot water to supply the five male, five female, one family and one disabled shower facilities. An additional requirement was for the solution to have a good life expectancy and low maintenance requirements.

Having worked with Baxi for over 40 years and been pleased with the reliability of the products and full support services supplied, Pursey and Ball asked Baxi to look at the project.

The solution

Baxi’s technical sales and design teams made several visits to site before proposing and designing an air source heat pump immersion hybrid system to meet the identified requirements. The solution comprised a Baxi Auriga HP 40 ASHP combined with a Megaflo Flexistor 1000 litre hot water cylinder to provide reliable, sanitary hot water provision for the showers.

Baxi’s specialist engineers carried out the commissioning of the heat pump solution and will also be responsible for its maintenance, ensuring ongoing high performance and efficiency at the facility.

The outcome

Clad in sustainable cedar, the new shower facility at Pembrey Country Park has been designed with eco-friendly features to ensure a high standard of hygiene and comfort. Central to this is Baxi’s renewable ASHP hot water solution that efficiently and safely meets the high demand for hot water from the hundred plus caravan visitors in the spacious shower stalls. Water saving fixtures and 10 kW of solar PV panels further add to the sustainable net zero operation.
