TM65 calculation documents now available for Heatrae Sadia Multipoint Series

Baxi has announced the ready availability of CIBSE Technical Memorandum 65 Embodied carbon in building services calculation documents for the entire Heatrae Sadia Multipoint electric water heater series.

The company has produced the documents in response to the increased focus on evaluating, and ultimately reducing, the embodied carbon associated with a building services system.

As significant strides have been made to reduce the operational carbon emissions of equipment in use, the focus has shifted to evaluating their embodied carbon in a bid to accelerate progress towards net zero buildings.

An understanding of the manufacture of a product, its installation, transportation, maintenance, repair, replacement and end of life, has therefore become increasingly important, with CIBSE’s calculation methodology widely adopted.

James Matthews, Baxi’s Head of Public Health said:

“Specifiers, consultant engineers and the wider building services industry are increasingly tasked with selecting products with lower embodied carbon in the drive for a net zero future. By offering TM65 documents for our Heatrae Sadia Multipoint range, we hope to simplify the carbon calculation process, making it quicker and easier for them to evaluate.”

The CIBSE calculation methodology provides a consistent approach to calculating and reporting embodied carbon where an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is not available. The TM65 Mid-level Calculations document for the Heatrae Sadia Multipoint and Multipoint Eco provides the embodied carbon result of the product along with a breakdown of its material extraction, manufacture, transportation, use, maintenance and repair, and deconstruction.

James continued:

“Embodied carbon savings from building services systems can have a significant and immediate impact on a building’s whole life carbon emissions due to the materials used and high replacement rates. We are proud to be one of the first UK manufacturers of heating and hot water solutions to provide TM65 certification documents for our products and support the drive to net zero.”

UK manufactured, Heatrae Sadia products are designed with the highest quality of materials and a reduced footprint to provide building services designers with low carbon solutions for heating and hot water at both an operational and embodied carbon level. The Heatrae Sadia Multipoint TM65 documents are available for free download from the website.
