Baxi Heating helps in the fight against COVID-19

The current national emergency with COVID-19 is unprecedented and at Baxi Heating we are doing our best to continue to keep UK homes, hospitals and businesses supplied with heating and hot water during this difficult period.

The vital work we are doing at this time was highlighted yesterday (March 26), when we were contacted by a supplier that had been asked for 32 hot water heaters to equip NHS isolation units.  Although we had run out of stock of these water heaters, colleagues at our factory in Bamber Bridge, Preston, realised how critical these water heaters would be for the NHS, and to the health of the country, and pulled out all the stops.

The manufacturing schedule was immediately changed to prioritise these important products, and the order was fulfilled within a few hours, although our standard lead time is 10 days.

At this time, our highest priority is the safety of all our valued colleagues, and we are implementing a raft of measures to comply with government guidelines.

These steps include:

  • All office-based and field-based colleagues have been issued with health and safety guidelines and, where appropriate, PPE to reduce the risk of infection or contamination
  • We are still manufacturing heating and hot water products for UK homes, businesses and hospitals.  However, in order to keep our colleagues safe, we have spread out our production lines to ensure there is at least two metres between our operatives
  • Colleagues who can, are working from home
  • We have restricted UK and international travel, limited meetings, or moved them online, and cancelled events and exhibitions for the foreseeable future

Baxi Heating has been manufacturing in Preston for over 150 years, and we intend looking after our colleagues, customers and business to ensure we will still be providing heat and hot water across the UK for the next 150 years.

We would like to thank our colleagues for their dedication and hard work during this time.
