Why choose a system boiler?

Baxi Megaflo System CompactSystem boilers combine high efficiency and high performance with exceptional 'green' credentials. The reliability, versatility, convenience and ease of installation offered by a system boiler also contribute to its popularity.

Modern system boilers produce warmth as efficiently as possible. Although similar to a conventional boiler in that it operates using stored hot water, a system boiler features two key differences.

Many of the heating and hot water system's major components, such as the pump and expansion vessel, are already built into the system boiler. This not only removes the need for a separate feed and expansion cistern in the loft, but it also simplifies installation and servicing.

Also, a system boiler pumps the hot water straight through the heating system to the radiators and hot water cylinder. This reduces the amount of time your home takes to heat up and therefore also reduces your running costs.

The majority of new system boilers, such as the Baxi Megaflo System Compact GA, are highly efficient, with a SEDBUK 2005 >90% efficiency. This means lower fuel bills and a reduction in your carbon footprint as less energy is used than with a traditional boiler.

Key benefits of system boilers

System boilers offer several key advantages over other types of gas boilers, including:

  • Kinder to the environment than traditional boilers as a system boiler uses less fuel
  • Economical to run as the boiler's high energy efficiency has a big impact on heating bills
  • Greater reliability as output is matched to heating demand without the boiler constantly switching itself on and off
  • Neater, easier and quicker installation because most major components of the heating and hot water system are already built in
  • Saves on space as there is no need for a feed and expansion cistern in the loft
  • A 'dry loft' eliminates the risk of any leaks or frost damage to pipes and tanks
  • Constant supply of hot water simultaneously to multiple outlets such as taps, baths or showers without water running cold elsewhere in the house
  • High flow rate thanks to the in-built pump which delivers powerful showers and quick filling baths
  • Discreet user friendly controls ensure easy operation and improve the appearance of system boilers
  • Contemporary design allows system boilers to be sited in a kitchen or open utility area
  • A choice of power outputs between 15-32kW satisfy the heat and hot water requirements of any size property, regardless of the number of bathrooms
  • Works with both natural gas and LPG
