- Solar collectors (plates & tubes) should be installed facing south for optimal performance.
- Plate collectors should be installed between 30° and 45° from horizontal (if installing on a flat roof the Baxi flat roof kit enables installation between these angles)
- Evacuated tube collectors can be installed between 0° - 90° from horizontal, each individual tube can be rotated +/- 25° to allow full exposure to the sun
- The roof structure needs to be suitable to carry weight of solar collectors
- Solar collectors should not be shaded by buildings or trees to allow maximum solar gain through the day
- Solar systems should be suitably sized to ensure optimum performance
- Where roofs are positioned east to west, solar collectors should be installed on each side to ensure the system benefits from the position of the sun through the day. This can be achieved easily using the Baxi Solarflo east west array kit available as an optional extra
- All solar system pipework should be lagged with UV stable, high temperature insulation to ensure maximum energy from the system is transferred into the water cylinder
- All solar circuit pipework should be made with copper pipe with brazed or compression fittings. No soft solder fittings should be used.
