More about the Baxi Geoflo

How does the GeofloTM ground source heat pump work?

The Baxi GeofloTM ground source heat pump system taps into the natural heat found in the ground just metres below the Earth's surface.

The heat pump works by keeping fluid in the evaporator slightly cooler than the source, enabling it to draw latent heat from the earth via heat collectors which are buried in the ground.

This stable, consistent energy is used to provide hot water for a domestic heating system.

The heat pump collects the heat at around 10°C and increases the temperature to a level suitable for a heating system. The more the heat pump raises the temperature, the less efficient it is, which is why this system is more suited to underfloor heating systems at around 35°C.

The Baxi Geoflo is a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certified product (MCS certification number MCS007), meaning it is eligible for the Government's Renewable Heat Incentive. For more information on MCS visit our MCS pages.
