Q Why should I invest in a Dual Energy System instead of a conventional boiler?
A A conventional boiler will only provide gas central heating and hot water. A Dual Energy System such as the Baxi Ecogen will provide all this plus cheap electricity to power your home. You could save up to £600 on your annual fuel bill and cut your carbon emissions by up to 40%.
Q Who can install and service Baxi Ecogen?
A Baxi are working with key partners, including British Gas, who are MCS certified and fully trained to install and service the Baxi Ecogen Micro-CHP boiler.
Q How does Baxi Ecogen generate electricity?
A The Baxi Ecogen high efficiency boiler uses technology called a Stirling engine. As soon as heat is demanded, a magnetic piston drives up and down within a generator coil to produce 6kW of heat and 1kW of electricity per hour. If the heat demand goes above 6kW, the supplementary burner will fire up and can offer an additional 18kW of heat. As heat demand falls within the home, the boiler modulates down to as low as 3kW, while still generating electricity.
Q What can I use my electricity for?
A The Baxi Ecogen produces up to 1kW of cheap electricity per hour to power most of your home's energy needs, from your lights and fridge/freezer to your phone and TV.
Q What can I do with any electricity I don't use?
A Any surplus electricity you don't use can be exported back to the electrcity grid. Energy suppliers will pay what is called a Feed-in Tariff to householders for every kWh of electricity generated and exported back to the electricity grid. And best of all, it is tax-free and inflation linked.
Q Where can the Baxi Ecogen be fitted in my home?
A The Baxi Ecogen is wall-hung and can be fitted in a range of locations including your kitchen, utility, garage or airing cupboard.

Q What is MCS certification?
A MCS stands for Microgeneration Certification Scheme. Manufacturers of microgeneration products can apply to achieve MCS certification to show that the products are viewed as quality products that have environmental benefits. The Baxi Ecogen is the first and only micro-CHP appliance to have achieved MCS certification, meaning it is eligible for the Feed-in Tariff, a Government grant designed to encourage the uptake of small scale microgeneration products.
