If you're considering having a ground source heat pump installed, it's worth bearing the points below in mind.
Baxi provide application support to Geoflo projects and enquiries, therefore we recommend that you contact us if you are considering a Geoflo installation.
-
Heat pumps suit well insulated, low energy buildings.
-
They suit buildings that have a "wet" underfloor or low temperature heating system throughout (ie. no radiators anywhere).
-
Ground source heat pumps are best suited to off-gas areas.
-
You will need to have considerable land available to install the heat pump slinkies.
-
Heat pumps should perferably be located away from a living area i.e. in a garage, outhouse etc.
-
Houses with large glass areas should be treated carefully with regards to the insulation.
-
When using a ground source heat pump you should consider using an electricity tariff such as Economy 10. Using a timer to turn the system on to coincide with the off-peak times will enable the system to work efficiently and economically.
- There are various funding options available for renewables installations which you can read about on our grants page. For householders wanting to install microgeneration technologies, full details of available funding can be found on the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform's Low Carbon Buildings Programme website.
