Ease of installation and use

As with all gas appliances, Baxi Ecogen must be fitted by a Gas Safe Register installer.  The installer will also need electrical skills including Part P - just as they do with a conventional boiler.

The main difference will be that the electricity meter will need to be changed to an import/export meter by your utility or a licensed subcontractor to your utility.  This is so you can export the electricity you don't use in your home back to the grid.

The gas connections and flow and return water pipes connect just like a normal boiler.  The unit is connected electrically to the distribution box in the home and back to the import/export meter.

The day to day running of Baxi Ecogen will be the same as a normal boiler, except that an LCD display will show how much electricity has been generated.

As with a standard boiler, Baxi Ecogen should be serviced once a year to keep it working efficiently and maintain gas safety.  The Free Piston Sterling Engine is hermetically sealed and needs little maintenance.
