Baxi provides low carbon heating solution for Cornwall County Hall

Baxi has substantially improved energy efficiency and cut carbon emissions at Cornwall County Hall in Truro thanks to the installation of new Baxi high efficiency boilers, integrated with its innovative Multifit GasSaver heat recovery devices.

Cornwall County Hall is an impressive 1960's building of concrete and glass construction, home to over 800 employees. Following performance problems with its existing heating and hot water system, and keen to deliver on its own green agenda, the Council contracted Bodmin-based County Heating to specify and install a low carbon replacement. County Heating selected two new Baxi Duotec Combi HE boilers complete with Multifit GasSaver units and a Zenex Superflow system to provide high performance and class leading efficiency.

"We really like this new system" says Mark Mingo, Director of County Heating. "It was easy to install, freed up valuable space in the plant room and, with the addition of the GasSaver on the condensing Baxi boilers, it generates a real energy efficiency improvement".

The Multifit GasSaver is an impressive device that sits neatly between each Baxi 40kW Duo-tec boiler and its flue. Each unit recycles the heat from the flue gases which would otherwise be expelled into the atmosphere and wasted. This heat is used to preheat water coming into the boiler from the cold mains supply, significantly reducing the amount of gas required by the boiler to heat the water. Independent tests show that the Multifit GasSaver can reduce the gas used to heat hot water by up to 37% annually. It has also been awarded the Waterwise Marque in recognition of the water savings that can be achieved. The Multifit GasSaver is listed as an approved technology under SAP Appendix Q and is recommended for use by the Energy Saving Trust.  

The Baxi Duo-tec Combi HE is a compact, combination boiler which is SEDBUK Band A rated. Available in outputs of 24, 28, 33 and 40kW, it offers high efficiency and excellent flow rates as standard across the range.

Zenex developed the Multifit GasSaver and recently joined forces with Baxi Group to promote its technologies that further improve the energy efficiency of domestic boilers.
