Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is owned by the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), it is an internationally recognised quality assurance scheme which demonstrates to consumers that a business is committed to meeting rigorous standards.

The aims of the MCS are to:

  • Help build a rapidly growing Microgeneration industry based on quality and reliability
  • Contribute to cutting the UK's dependency on fossil fuels and its carbon dioxide emissions
  • Provide consumer confidence that products and installers meet and continue to meet robust standards
  • Aid in growing the Microgeneration industry

Currently the following microgeneration technologies may be assessed:

  • Solar thermal Collectors
  • Solar PV
  • MicroWind
  • Heat Pumps
  • Biomass

Baxi Certified products

Currently, Baxi Solarflo in-roof solar panels*, Baxi Bioflo biomass, Baxi Geoflo Ground Source Heat Pump, Baxi Multiheat Biomass boiler, Baxi Solo Innova Biomass boiler** and the Baxi Ecogen have all achieved Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certification.

MCS approved installers and businesses

We provide a training course for installers interested in gaining MCS approved installer/business status. For more information visit our training website.
