Microgeneration is an effective way of using renewable energy to benefit the environment, increasing the energy efficiency of your home and reducing fuel bills. As it grows in popularity, there are a number of applications and technologies for use in homes, using different sources and fuels, such as solar thermal, biomass, wind and hydro-electric.
Domestic CHP
Domestic CHP (micro-CHP) is the simultaneous production of heat and electricity in individual homes. The micro-CHP unit replaces the gas central heating boiler and provides heat and hot water as usual. In addition, it provides the majority of the home's electricity needs. Micro-CHP systems are driven by heat-demand, which means you generate electricity at times when you are using the most, generally in the morning and at night.
Baxi EcogenTM is the the first micro-CHP unit designed specifically for use in the home. Although it looks just like a regular boiler, while it heats your home and hot water it also generates electricity for use in your home.
Baxi EcogenTM is eligible for the Feed-in Tariff, which is a Government grant which rewards those who install certain micro-CHP products.
Baxi has an extensive range of microgeneration products for the home, many of which are MCS certified. This means that they meet the stringent guidelines of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, providing you with peace of mind that the products are of the highest quality.
