What is a Combination (Combi) Boiler?

Combi (combination) boilerA combi boiler is the name given to a boiler that provides heat for central heating and heats water instantaneously on the opening of a hot tap. With a combi there are no tanks in the loft and no storage cylinder. The water is fed from the mains so the water pressure is generally greater.

Combi boilers are now the best selling boiler type for gas central heating and domestic hot water production in Britain.  Manufactured using proven technology, they are reliable and durable.

They are also economical to run because they produce an endless stream of hot water, whenever you need it.  And only when you need it.  However the flow can be limited if other taps are running simultaneously.

With a combi boiler there is no storage cylinder to heat first or to run cold.  You don't need to find space for storage tanks.  If you need instantaneous hot water and space is at a premium in your property then a combi could be the right choice for you.

Replacing your boiler

If your boiler is over 10 years old, you might want to consider changing it for one that is more efficient.  By doing so you will benefit from lowering your heating bills and reducing your impact on the environment.  Baxi has a range of energy efficient heating solutions that includes combi boilers as well as a range of renewables.

High efficiency boilers

The Government's Energy White Paper says that every boiler installed must carry either a SEDBUK Band A or SEDBUK Band B rating.  SEDBUK stands for the Seasonal Efficiency of a Domestic Boiler in the UK and is the national standard for energy performance.

The high efficiency Baxi combi range are all SEDBUK Band A rated and includes:
