Which boilers can I redeem my voucher against?
Your £400 voucher can be redeemed against any gas, or LPG SEDBUK (2005) >90% rated boiler - such as the Baxi Duo-tec Combi.
If you have a back boiler you could replace with a Baxi Bermuda BBU HE. There are 1.8 million back boilers that are classed as SEDBUK (2005) <70% rated and Baxi is the only manufacturer to offer a high efficiency replacement.
You may also redeem your voucher against low carbon technologies such as microCHP dual energy systems, biomass boilers, air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps. Solar is another option, provided it is combined with an eligible boiler, such as the Megaflo System Compact which is compatible with the Baxi Solarflo. Low carbon technologies must be Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited to be eligible under the scheme.
Does the £400 voucher expire?
Yes, it does. From the date of issue, you have 18 weeks to have the boiler installed and return your voucher and invoice to the Energy Saving Trust (EST).
If you haven't submitted your claim after 18 weeks, the voucher becomes void - however the EST will send you a reminder as the deadline approaches.
If your voucher expires, it will be reallocated to another household. You will be able to apply for a voucher again, though be aware that they are limited on a first come, first served basis.
Who can carry out the installation of my new boiler?
All installers must be registered for the type of work they are carrying out. For gas installations consult the Gas Safe Register or for oil installations the OFTEC register to check your installer is properly qualified. All installers should be a member of a recognised industry body such as CLE or SNIPEF. Installation of a microgeneration technology must be carried out by a person qualified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
To find your nearest Baxi installer use our simple Find an Installer tool.
What if I can't afford to pay for my boiler replacement up front?
If this is the case, it would be worth investigating the Warm Front scheme - which operates specifically for low-income households.
Please note that this is separate to the Boiler Scrappage Scheme and you are not able to apply for both.
Is there a similar scheme in England and Wales?
The English and Welsh boiler scrappage schemes have now closed to new applications because all the available vouchers have been allocated.
