Microgeneration is the generation of zero or low-carbon heat and power by individuals, small businesses and communities to meet their own needs, and includes:

  1. Solar photovoltaics (the conversion of solar power to electricity)
  2. Wind turbines
  3. Solar thermal hot water
  4. Ground source heat pumps
  5. Micro-CHP
  6. Fuel cells (an electrochemical energy conversion device)
