Delegates at Baxi's first renewables seminar in Manchester gave the event a resounding thumbs-up. Social housing providers, builders and contractors, domestic heating engineers and representatives from local government listened as guest speaker Adrian Arnold of the Energy Saving Trust put climate change into context and explained how it will affect us all. He described how the Trust is working with industry, organisations and individuals to educate and help change opinions and lifestyle choices.
In his introduction to the event, Paul Baxter, Baxi Sales Director for Social Housing, said that there are crucial decisions to make regarding climate change and the heating industry has an important part to play. "Baxi and other boiler manufacturers have a responsibility to do as much as we can to safeguard the environment for future generations", he said. "That's why we are holding this free event, to demonstrate what has been done so far, and to show that we are at the forefront of developing technologies for the future."
The seminar included an introduction to heating specific legislation and hands-on workshops where delegates had the opportunity to examine solar, ground source heat pumps, biomass and micro CHP products and ask questions.
Andrew Clarke, Buyer in the North East Region for affordable housing and regeneration specialist Lovell, said: "The seminar has put all the information into context in a relaxed and helpful environment and provided an excellent opportunity to view different products and new technological developments. I am taking away lots of food for thought."
After the event, Paul Baxter said: "The feedback we have received has been really positive. Delegates were pleased to have the opportunity to ask questions, see the products that are available now that can help them achieve the Government targets for the reduction of carbon emissions, and have a glimpse at the technologies that will be available in the not too distant future."
Baxi's second, free of charge, renewables seminar is being held on 10 July 2007 at the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, where Dr Richard Dixon of WWF Scotlandwill be the guest speaker.
