Baxi teams up with PH Jones and Stevenage Homes to achieve Decent Homes

15/06/2010

Stevenage HomesAs part of the Decent Homes programme, Baxi has teamed up with national heating and property maintenance contractor PH Jones, who provides maintenance, repairs and ad-hoc installations to 7,500 dwellings for Stevenage Homes, to supply and install new high efficiency heating into void properties.

Baxi, PH Jones and Hertfordshire-based ALMO (Arms Length Management Organisation) Stevenage Homes have joined forces to streamline the supply chain and bring significant benefits to residents in these properties on behalf of Stevenage Borough Council. The project aims to upgrade all Stevenage Homes' tenanted dwellings to meet Decent Homes Standard by 2013. A range of Baxi gas boilers and heating equipment has been specified to suit the varying properties including: the Baxi Solo HE heat only boiler, the Baxi Duo-tec Combi HE and the Baxi Megaflo System HE. To further support this initiative Baxi Group has appointed PH Jones as its service agent.

"We are delighted to have become Baxi's agent for this project" explains Derek Corbishley, PH Jones Social Housing Maintenance Director. "They have provided us with all the parts, tools and technical information to install new boilers and to ensure a first-time fix on boiler maintenance jobs. We can therefore work quickly and effectively in residents' homes with minimum inconvenience to them".

"Stevenage Homes is committed to providing decent homes for all our residents. Replacing old inefficient boilers with new high efficiency models helps to lower their fuel use and save them money. As well as providing a range of high efficiency boilers that suits the various properties we are updating, Baxi Group's service agreement with PH Jones has given our maintenance contractors everything they need to install new boilers swiftly and to provide a complete service back up. This will ensure our residents are fully supported and that we deliver an excellent and efficient service," says Paul O'Donnell, project leader, Stevenage Homes.

Stevenage Homes' housing stock consists of a selection of different types of tenanted properties from flats to large houses. Therefore in order to refurbish the homes with high efficiency boilers a number of heating solutions are required. Baxi boilers therefore supplies three different types of high efficiency boilers to suit the range of properties at Stevenage Homes.

The highly advanced Baxi Solo HE is a heat only boiler which is the natural solution where space is limited and with a full range of models it's the perfect choice whatever size property. The award-winning Baxi Duo-tec Combi HE is stylish and simple to use with uncomplicated controls. Featuring a full range of outputs for natural gas, it can meet hot water requirements for any size property. Meanwhile, the Baxi Megaflo System HE is designed for fully pumped sealed systems and because it's fully modulating is the perfect choice for a wide range of applications. It will also work with central heating and indirect hot water systems.

The Decent Homes Standard was launched by the Government in 2000 as an ambitious 10-year repairs programme to bring all social housing up to a decent standard. In order to be decent a home should be warm, weatherproof and have reasonably modern facilities.
