Baxi Platinum - quality, reliability, performance
With its reliability, 5-year warranty and ease of installation, the Baxi Platinum Combi HE has become a firm favourite with installers and householders alike.
Engineers at Aberdeen Heating know the boilers well and are comfortable installing them. Sandra Galloway, director, says that the 5-year warranty offers extra peace of mind for her customers. "The boiler is so reliable and the backup service we get from Baxi is so good," she explains, "that, even though we always include two boilers in our quotes, the majority of our customers choose the Baxi Platinum, and we have no hesitation in recommending it."
The boiler has been designed so it is straightforward to install and easy to service and maintain. "The boiler is so easy to fit it almost falls onto the wall!" laughs Mick Ellis, owner of Metgas Services, Sheffield. "It's dead easy to service, too. The boiler I used to fit took around an hour and a half to service; the Platinum takes about 25 minutes.
"The 5-year warranty is great for my customers, and is good for my business too, because I always explain that the warranty is subject to the annual service of the appliance being carried out."
This view is backed up Tony Baigent, director of B&K Electrical and Heating Contractors, Wallsend, Tyne and Wear. "A lot of the installations we do are for landlords" he says, "and the exceptional reliability, and the peace of mind the 5-year warranty provides, are of uppermost importance to them. They know that, in the unlikely event of a problem, the Baxi service division will react very quickly to sort it out."
The Baxi Platinum has a SEDBUK 2005 efficiency of 91.1 per cent, is available in outputs of 24, 28, 33 and 40 kW and is fully modulating, offering flexibility of siting and optimising system efficiency by matching output to the property's requirement. It has flow rates of up to 16 litres per minute providing comfort and convenience to the end user, even in larger properties.
It comes with a one piece pre-plumbing jig, making installation quicker and simpler for the installer. It also means that the first fix of system pipe work can be installed without the boiler in place, reducing the risk of damage or theft of the boiler in empty properties.
The boiler has an integral filling loop, for faster, more convenient commissioning of the system. The flying lead is easily connected to a three amp plug, so there is no requirement for a Part P qualified electrician on site. There are extensive flue options up to 20 metres for greater flexibility of siting, and a telescopic flue is also available for even quicker installation.
High quality components mean the Baxi Platinum is built to last. The high performance stainless steel heat exchanger, brass hydraulics and Grundfos pump, for example, ensure its reliability and reduce call out costs.
