Baxi Group solution delivers for Selwood Housing
Baxi Group has helped Selwood Housing meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes with a comprehensive heating and hot water solution, featuring renewable Baxi solar thermal technology, for a new development in Melksham, Wiltshire.
This 7-home project located in Lewington Close consists of a variety of different sized homes - two 2-bed terraced houses, one 3-bed terraced house, two 3-bed semi-detached houses and two 2-bed semi-detached houses. Working in partnership with Baxi Group's in-house NewDesign service, the housing association was able to explore the right solution for the development, specifying Baxi SolarfloT in-roof panels, Megaflo unvented indirect solar cylinders and Baxi Megaflo System HE boilers for each dwelling. Installation was carried out by local contractor, CJ Deighton & Co.
"We have a long-standing relationship with Baxi Group and this particular project progressed extremely smoothly from start to finish" explains Paul Walsh, Development Director at Selwood Housing. "The Baxi SolarfloT panels have proved instrumental in achieving our target Level 3 under the Code. They are easy to fit and link up well with the Megaflo unvented indirect solar cylinders and Baxi Megaflo System boilers to provide a complete system."
Baxi SolarfloT panels take energy from the sun which is then absorbed by a heat transfer fluid that is pumped around the solar circuit. The fluid flows through a dedicated solar coil within the base of the hot water cylinder. The heat is transferred into the water and the fluid re-circulates back to the panels. In the summer, up to 100 per cent of a home's hot water requirement can be produced using this technology. A well designed solar package can provide around 55% of the annual hot water demand, substantially reducing carbon emissions. Baxi SolarfloT panels have been installed on each roof and are fully compatible with the Heatrae Sadia Megaflo unvented indirect solar cylinders installed neatly into the airing cupboards in each home.
Central heating and additional hot water is provided by Baxi Megaflo System HE boilers. Designed for fully pumped and sealed systems, the Baxi Megaflo System HE carries a SEDBUK 2005 Band A rating (over 90% efficient), ensuring optimum energy efficient performance, reduced heating bills and low carbon emissions.
