Baxi Group has welcomed the publication of detailed proposals for the Clean Energy Cash Back Scheme, also referred to as a Feed-in Tariff. The proposals are a timely boost for microgeneration products, such as micro-combined heat and power (micro-CHP), which can help consumers save money and reduce their CO2 emissions.
For micro-CHP, the Clean Energy Cash Back Scheme has the potential to ensure that householders who generate their own low carbon electricity receive a fair reward for it, both in terms of units sold back to the grid and carbon saved. This will make more carbon efficient products, more economic to install and run.
Baxi Group Chief Executive Mark Kelly endorsed the Government's proposals and commented: "Today's announcement is a huge step towards allowing every home in the UK to generate its own green electricity, saving on fuel bills and protecting the environment. 'Clean Energy Cash Back' should provide a launch pad for microgeneration products such as the Baxi Ecogen, our groundbreaking new micro-combined heat and power product.
"In addition, we need to keep pushing for biogas to be injected into the national gas network to make appliances such as Ecogen even more carbon efficient.
"We have some concerns over the paperwork burden on consumers but believe that this can be resolved through the consultation process.
"We are committed to working with Government to set appropriate tariff levels for all low carbon technologies and have already undertaken substantial research in this area which will make a valuable contribution."
